Progress in our new home has been slow. We started to make great progress in the lounge and now it’s been paused whilst we rethink some ideas. In the meantime, I’ve been determined to complete one room as soon as possible to hopefully give us the motivation we need to continue with the rest of the house. So our daughter’s bedroom was the next one. Her nursery in our old house was very gender neutral and I loved it, but this time I definitely wanted something more grown up now she’s transitioned from cot to toddler bed and acts like a 3ft teenager most days.
Here’s what her bedroom looked like before. Blank walls in Almond White by Dulux which the whole house is painted in – David Wilson Homes’ choice of paint.

Whenever we’re planning a new home project, I always take a picture of the space and draw over it using my trusty iPad and Procreate app – probably the best app I’ve ever purchased! That’s when I created these mock-ups of how I envisioned my daughter’s bedroom looking.

Now for the finished result. I’m so pleased with how this turned out and is so close to the mockups I drew. I managed to complete this in two days by myself, with the one exception being the mirror my husband hung because me and drills can’t be trusted (I once drilled my thumbnail!).
Instead of the scalloped border I originally planned, I decided to go for decorative moulding. Main reason – I could not be bothered with faffing around with stencils and touching up each semicircle, so this was the next best option and I think it turned out really well!

All the furniture was used in her nursery from the old house, so the only things I needed to purchase in the end were:
Moulding: Decorative natural pine moulding 12 x 32 x 2400mm x4 at B&Q = £43.88 (£10.97 each)
Wall paint (top): Almond White by Dulux (already painted before moving in)
Wall paint (bottom): Pressed Petal by Dulux Easycare – 2.5L and still got approx. a third left of the tub = £20 (was on sale, RRP £28)
Curtains: Luna Brushed Blackout Eyelet Curtains in Blush at Dunelm = £50
Curtain tiebacks: from the Pretty Jolly Store on Amazon = £7.99
Wall Stickers: From Temu and ordered 4 rolls – only needed around 2.5 rolls in the end = £8
Bedding: Habitat Gingham Pink Toddler Bedding Set at Argos = £18
Chair Cushion: Habitat Plain Ruffle Cushion at Argos = £10
Throw: Jenson Herringbone Throw 200cm in Blush at Dunelm = £22
Total cost of the makeover: £179.87
